It must be troublesome, if not impossible, to distinguish the precise controlling of legal powers for creation and compliance initiatives, and sustaining ethics in the culture of innovation. Group: It must be a big challenge to find out what the group members of organizations specifically do to innovate the culture of the organization. Conducting culture of innovation and change in business ethically, avoiding corruption, prolong ethical business cultures and compliance with the law are superior solutions to the question, what must an group do to encourage the culture of innovation? Numerous nations adopted considering laws that might establish the parameters for legal, and ethical compliant corporate cultural conduct (Bagaryakov Nikulina, 2012). Social Responsibility Social Responsibility (SR) in the culture of innovation and change can never be ignored, particularly by major firms, and there are proofs that innovation has now become an interesting topic in the corporate boardrooms around the entire world. A few corporate leaders currently look SR as a part of their strategic management plan, while others consider it as a source of the innovation. However, innovation has not at all got the level of consideration it deserves. The word Innovation has a few diverse connotations that might not apply to the kind of results under the consideration here. Despite this, it is manageable for the organizations to be more innovative to the Social Responsibility initiative (Edralin, 2007). Management of workforce diversity and problems in multicultural workforces Managing workforce diversity Managing multicultural workforce diversity is the process in which the organizations workers belong to different ethnic, religious, racial, as well as gender backgrounds. Respect within the Workplace: The significant segment in accomplishing a positively managed or diversified workplace is setting up mutual respect and teamwork among the staff members. The approval of individual contrasts is necessary for creating productive and a copacetic work environment. Therefore, respect of other employees is one of the major issues in managing workforce diversity ("Korean and American Companies in Cyberspace: Comparing Public Relations Models Reflected in Web Sites", 2003). Conflict: When racism, discrimination, and prejudice creep into the work environment, conflict among workers becomes unavoidable and unpredictable. If not fully distinguished, this type of animosity in the workplace mostly turns into an explosive and sometimes even violent. Companies which offer diversified work surroundings and give enough diversity training frequently reduce and destroy such occurrences. Cultural and Ethnic Differences: Unfortunately, a few people harbor unfair biases against individuals of different religion, colors, ethnicity and societies than their own. This prejudice should never be tolerated in the workplace, and it should be managed within a company in a prompt manner (Larson, 2004). Communication: Even when there is no prejudice exist among the workers, management of workforce diversity tends to bring several communication issues. Like, contracting employees who speak very little and no English can decrease productivity and profitability by making a communication obstruction among the team members of companies. Issues in multicultural workforces Many authoritative leaders are attempting to conquer the issues of the multicultural workforce in order to reap its benefits. A multicultural workforce is comprised of workers with an extensive range of cultural backgrounds. Age, national origin, gender, race, and marital status are a few traits which distinguish workers culturally (Kamau-Maina, 2009). The increase in Danger of Discrimination: The diverse workforce represents an increase in the potential for the discrimination. It is obvious that if people are placed together with natural distinguishing traits, workers with prejudices might utilize them against one another. This increases the importance of why the diversity management is so basic and important with the multicultural workforces. That is why organizations want to offer cultural sensitivity training and awareness to assist companies in creating a culture of acceptance and tolerance of differences. Internal Communication: Though worldwide communication is normally an advantage, internal communication is often more challenging when employees have cultural and language barriers. Again, diversity management is required. However, organizations with the multicultural workforces have many other obstacles or deterrents to overcome. Management Cost and Time: The inquiry of workers complaints regarding unsupportive and negative attitudes or harassments takes up a large amount of cost and time of management, instead of whether they upheld or not (Kuznetsov, 2014). Women as global business leaders With the growing value of the worldwide business as well as global relations, it is very crucial to interpreting what is going on nowadays in terms of women as global leaders. Everyone must realize that many changes are required to happen in this category as this affects their career (Weideman, 2011). Considering the career path of women, especially in the field of business, and their roles and participation in today's world by examining the present situation of women in higher positions in the workplace might help to gain a very clear image of the current reality and hopefully provide the image of the current changing situation of women in business innovation. Prospering women business leaders mostly help in knowing as how to effectively assemble the puzzle pieces of business life together (Visciola, 2009). According to the majority of researchers, women are also capable of holding a position of business leaders as compared to men. As per the new research survey on the womens leader ship in business, many people find women more efficient than men on the leadership traits like intelligence or skills for the cultural innovation and they are stronger, compassionate, as well as organized leaders than men ("Reviewing innovation effort", 2008). Conclusion This study concludes that the Innovation is the way for developing or expanding new things in business. In the business sector, the term Culture of Innovation often means commercialization of innovative ideas, products, inventions, resources and designs. It has also been concluded that the Innovation is not only an ad-hoc thought, but it is considered as an improvement in business culture. Companies should encourage an innovative culture in their businesses to promote an uninterrupted flow of new ideas and thoughts. If any company wishes to sustain and inspire innovation, the culture of innovation is necessary. Whereas there are several other variations as well as hybrids in the innovation culture, however the basic constituent remains consistent. References Abramson, M. Littman, I. (2002).Innovation. Bishop Cameron Essays - American Literature,

Bishop Cameron J. Pauley Freshman Honors, Period 2 December 11, 2017 The Caged One Represents Many By Bishop Cameron Freedom does not mean equality. Just because a slave was recently freed from slavery, that does not mean he or she are free from racism, being physically imprisoned by one is the same, if not worse, than being mentally imprisoned by all. And the person who was imprisoned by all was Paul Laurence Dunbar, the author of the poem "Sympathy." Sympathy was a poem that expressed the effect that racism has had on Dunbar, and any African-American at the time. The poem is about a caged bird. The bird is representing African-Americans, how the racism around him makes them feel imprisoned. Racism was so apparent at the time of this poem being published the [There are two literary devices that help develop the overall theme, title, and the poem itself. There are many literary devices found in the poem. The two literary devices of persona and metaphor will mostly make up the entire poem and the overall title of "Sympathy." The title of "Sympathy" was made for the readers of the poem, who were mostly white, to feel bad for the bird, who represented all of the African-Americans at the time. Dunbar clearly used metaphor on the fact of the bird representing black people. The entire poem is a metaphor. Dunbar wrote this poem and represented all blacks at the time with the bird, which he always knew how it felt. Also, in the first and last line of every stanza. Dunbar always knew how African-Americans felt and, in this case, the bird, using "I know". "I know what the caged bird feels!" (7) "I know why the caged bird sings" (21), and he knows because he is one of the people who are being represented by the bird. The African-Americans at the time are post-slavery, mostly in the South as well. And Dunbar, being a black person himself, knows the discrimination of blacks everywhere. He knows the struggle of being treated lesser just because of his skin color. But that is not the only place a metaphor is s een. In the second stanza, the bird "beats his wing till it's blood is red on the cruel bars;" (8-9). "And a pain still throbs in the old, old scars"(12). He beat his wing on the bars, but in the twelfth line, he said "old scars", as if the bird done this before. This could be referencing the fighting that African-Americans are facing for the equality that they are facing. How they fight and fight but without any progress. And at the time, America was not as nearly diverse as it is today, it was mostly blacks and whites, and whites would not be fighting for anything at the time. And a white person would probably not be writing about the the struggles of white or black people. Persona in "Sympathy" is apparent in all of the stanzas and could be depicted in multiple ways. The author continued to use the pronoun "I" many times throughout the poem, and he seemed so confident that he knew how the caged bird felt. Even in the first stanza, he described the scene perfectly, always seemed to "...know what the caged bird feels" (1-2), as if he was the caged bird, even in the second stanza, explaining a pain that "...still throbs in the old, old scars" (5) "And they pulse again with a keener sting-"(13), he was the one fighting and getting scared, and still kept fighting, he was fighting, he was the one who "...beats his wing Till it's blood is red on the cruel bars;" (8-9). But that's not the only place persona is significant to the theme portrayed, in the third stanza, the author explained a specific act only a few individuals would do, the bird would sing, but "It is not a carol of joy or glee, But a prayer that he sends from his deep heart's core, But a plea, that upward to Heaven he flings"(18-20), he is praying, this is hinted at by the use of the word heaven, and it being capitalized, like it is a place you

Music for the Mind Analysis and Response Essays

Music for the Mind Analysis and Response Essays Music for the Mind Analysis and Response Essay Music for the Mind Analysis and Response Essay Music for the Mind The purpose of this essay was to inform and explain to individuals all of the several ways for people to enjoy music as well as to explicate that the readers should strive for a more active type of listening. It showed the impact music can have on the lives of people. Aaron Copland said that even â€Å"One note is enough to change the atmosphere of the room† (599). This essay was written for just about everybody, with hearing of course, because most everyone listens to music. Even for the few that do not listen to music often, this could perhaps persuade them to listen to music . This was presented in a creative essay type format. The different types of music and conclusion of this essay are examples of evidence to support the purpose. Copland mentioned â€Å"We all listen to music on three separate planes†¦ (1) the sensuous plane, (2) the expressive plane, (3) the sheerly musical plane† (599). Copland also says that the reader should strive for a more active kind of listening regardless of what type of music you listen to (603). However, the author also mentioned that many people who would normally consider themselves qualified music lovers abuse the first plane when listening. This author effectively uses these appeals very effectively with logic. This author used a more objective type of language in his essay. The evidence in this essay supports the claims through practices people experience while listening, writing, or performing music. The evidence covers the perspectives associated with the 3 planes, but nothing else. I felt this article was very well written. I enjoyed the essay, as I was engaged during it. Anyone who listens or performs music can very easily relate to this essay and become engaged into it. The organization of this essay also helps people to be absorbed by this essay. The language throughout this article is not too formal, but not terribly informal. It was the perfect median in which you could read through and easily relate to the essay. Copland was very descriptive throughout this essay. I agree with this essay. This essay very much allows you to think and appreciate music in a way that you may have never thought about before. Personally, as a musician, I occasionally tend to listen to music in the third, musicality plane. I enjoy listening to the small details in songs and pieces of music. Without the small details in songs, they would not sound as aptivating as they are. However, I did not realize I was listening to music in this third plane until I read this article. I agree with the author when he claims that some people abuse the sensuality plane of listening by going to concerts in order to lose themselves. These individuals use music as a consolation of an escape. They enter a world where one does not have to think about reality. Of course , these individuals are not even thinking about the music. Instead, they dream because of and incidentally of the music yet never quite listening to it (599). I can relate to the author when he begins to talk about the second plane, the expressive plane. All music does have expressive power. Of course, some music will have much more than others, behind all of the notes, lyrics, is what the music is all about. Copland states that there is a meaning to music, however he cannot state that meaning. I agree because all music is going to have different meanings. A lack in appreciation of music sometimes disables one’s ability to connect with the music. The third plane, the sheerly musical plane, also relates to me. While taking music theory I and II in high school, we were told to compose our own songs, which allowed me to understand how the sheerly music plane works much better. Many listeners are not aware of this third plane when they are enjoying their music. Sometimes, I will stop and think about how the notes are put together, and try to guess the intervals between notes. Aside from the physical notes, other parts of the sheer musicality are rhythm, dynamics, scales, and much more. It is important to become more alive to music on its musical plane. This essay was the most enjoyable to read because of how well I was able to connect to it with a past comprised so much of music. Before reading this article, I did not quite think about all of the different planes of listening to music and how they all correlate to each other. I found myself, after reading this article, able to connect with each and every plane of music that Copland mentioned. I, of course, will often listen to music and enjoy it in the sensuous plane. I also can look at music from a composer’s point of because I have written and recorded my own song. However, along with this, I agree with the author in which many performers do not get into the music entirely because they are too worried about the notes and rhythms, they seem to forget what the song is all about. Finally, I can also relate to the third plane because I have a past with music and I can pick out certain notes, rhythms, and details in songs that add so much detail to the song. Overall, I believe Copland did an outstanding job in the writing of this essay. Copland, Aaron. The Norton Reader. New York: W. W. Norton Company, 2012. Print.

Authority Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Authority - Essay Example military, the importance of authority in the military, and also what may happen if authority is either lacking or not respected by the appropriate subordinates. Before exploring how authority is used in the military, it is important to understand what the word means and the ideas that it implies. The Collins English Dictionary offers up a variety of definitions, such as "the power or right to control, judge, or prohibit the actions of others," or "such a power or right delegated, especially from one person to another," or "the ability to influence or control others" (Collins). If we dissect these definitions one-by-one, we can see a recurring pattern across all three: power. Authority can only be gained through power, mostly due to the position that someone holds. A high up position can give someone authority over others because of their job description, which likely allows them to offer guidance to subordinates. Another component of the word authority is that it is delegated or assigned, typically from one person to another. Authority is often found in a chain of command, with those towards to top of the tree afforded more authority than p eople lower down the food chain. Also, authority usually is a two-way street between leaders and followers. There has to be a relationship between each set of individuals and both should know where they stand in the relationship; only in an equal relationship will there be no need for either party to have authority over the other. Informal relationships are often like this, whereas in formal situations authority is necessary in order to preserve some sort of organization within large groups of people. Finally, the definition of authority involves influence or control applied by one person over another. In less formal situations, a leader will look to influence his or her subordinates but not control them. Controlling a group of people allows little room for them to be creative and think outside the box. In formal organizations,

Homework Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words - 1

Homework - Assignment Example Therefore, 2.5 tons/square yard = 5500/1296 pounds/square inches = 4.24 pounds/in2 6. 2.1 oz/in2 = tons/acre. One ton is equivalent to 3.125*10-5. To convert oz into pounds = 2.1/3.125*10-5. One square inch is equivalent to 1.59*10-7 acre. To convert square inch into acre = 1/1.59*10-7. Therefore, 2.1 oz per square inch = (2.1/159)*3.125 =6.5625/159 =0.0413 tons/acre 7. 34 square kilometer per liter into square mile per ml. one kilometer is equivalent to 0.62 miles while one liter is equivalent to a thousand ml. to convert 34 square kilometers per liter into square miles per ml = (34 * 0.622)/ 1000= 13/1000 = 0.013 miles per ml. 9. 81 square rd per 20 min to acres per hour. One square yd = 0.00021 acre hence 81 square yd = 81* 0.00021 = 0.0167. Also, to convert 20 min into hours = 20/60 =0.333. Therefore, 81 square yd per 20 min = 0.0167/0.333 = 0.05 acres per hour. 10. 1. 76 tons/cubic yd to oz/cubic inch. 1 ton =32000 oz, hence 1.76 tons = 56,320 oz. Also, 1 cubic yard = 46656 cubic inches. Therefore, 1.76 tons per cubic yd = 56,320oz/46656 cubic inches = 1.21 oz/cubic inch. 11. 150 rods per 6 min and 10 seconds into mile per hour. 1 rod =0.003125 miles while 1 min = 0.0167 hour. Therefore 150 rods = 0.46875 miles and 370 seconds = 0.103 hours. Speed = 0.46875 miles/0.103 hours = 4.55 miles per hour. 12. Theoretical capacity = width (feet) * Speed (meters/ seconds)/8.25. Speed of the combine is 4.2 miles per hour = 6759.24metrs/3,600seconds = 1.88 meters per second. Therefore, theoretical capacity = (20*1.88)/8.25 = 37.6/8.25 = 4.56 a/hr. 13. Efficiency is the product of theoretical capacity and effective field capacity (Field & Solie 124). Theoretical capacity = 7.2 a/hr. field capacity = 64.7 a/13hrs = 4.98a/hr. Efficiency = 7.2*4.98 = 35.86%. 16. Width of 7m = 22.97feet. Speed =6kms/hr = 6000m/3600sec = 1.67 m/s. theoretical capacity = (22.97*1.67)/8.25 = 4.65 a/hr. but 1acre =0.4hectare.

My Hobby Essay Example for Free

My Hobby Essay Vegetable gardening as my favorite hobby Deepa George WGU February 20, 2013 Vegetable gardening as my favorite hobby Hobby is an entertaining activity which provides pleasure and recreation. It is a way of escaping from the stress and the monotony of one’s daily round of duties. Therefore, hobby is essential for the proper enjoyment of life. My favorite hobby is vegetable gardening because it provides me sense of pride, peace, and relaxation, promote healthy life style and save money on groceries. You should start gardening as your hobby because it provides you relaxation, keeps you physically healthy, and save money on grocery bills. First of all, a vegetable garden is an easy and effective way to provide a sense of pride and relaxation. I am fortunate to have a spacious backyard for the gardening. I have vegetables and crops such as peas, lettuce, greens, cabbages, root crops, squash, beans, corn, melons, cucumber, eggplant, pepper, and herbs in my garden in different seasons. Research shows that gardening promotes mental health by relieving stress and promoting a sense of accomplishment. Spending some time in the garden ease stress, keep you limber and improve your mood. Vegetable gardening is a wonderful pastime the whole family can enjoy. Allowing children to be involved in the gardening help them to develop an understanding of nature, sense of responsibility, and pride. Kids are more likely to taste vegetables they grow themselves. My five year old son is proud about our vegetable garden. He helps us with watering the plants, caring for the crop and harvesting the produce. He was extremely reluctant to eat fruits and vegetables buying from the market, but now he does not want to miss anything coming from our garden. When your daughter Sara was in my house, she enjoyed peeking under leaves in search of ripe fruits and vegetables. Hence, I am sure that she will be so happy to have her own garden. Growing your own food, build a sense of pride and satisfaction. Watching a seed sprout in front of your eyes to become food on your plate is gratifying. The commitment for garden rewards you with a feeling that you have brought something to life. It is truly exciting to go to your backyard and get a juicy, ripened tomato for a salad. Now the weather is turning warm and favorable for planting. You should make a vegetable garden with your favorite vegetables like tomatoes, cucumbers and jalapeno peppers. The stores like Lowes, Home depot, and local seed stores have varieties of seeds with planting instructions. I will help you with picking out plants, preparing raised beds and containers, and fertilization of plants. I would like you to enjoy the sense of pride, accomplishment and relaxation by gardening which brings you close to nature. Secondly, planting vegetable gardening keeps you and your family healthy. It provides fresh fruits and vegetables right at your fingertips. Everybody is seriously concerned about the safety of the food available in the market. When you grow your own food carefully and organically, you do not have to worry about the contamination of the vegetables. When they grow in your backyard, you are not able to resist them, and their vitamin content will be at the highest level as you eat them straight from the garden. Thus, gardening is a simple and an easy way to promote good eating habits. Furthermore, gardening is a good outdoor exercise. Planting, weeding, watering, and harvesting require a lot of physical activity. Tending vegetable garden burns calories and uses muscles. Studies have shown that one can burn 200 to 500 calories per hour by working in the vegetable garden. The activities in the garden will give you sufficient physical exercise to keep you physically healthy and mentally alert. Finally, you will save money on groceries when you begin to stock your kitchen with fresh produce from backyard. It will help you to save money on gas you use to get to the store. To save money, you should plant smart and grow the food you like to eat. Make sure you grow a lot of vegetables that you use regularly. Since you like the salad, you should plant plenty of salad greens to save money. You can preserve the produce and enjoy the goodness of fruits and vegetables long after the harvest is over. There are four common ways to preserve foods: canning, freezing, drying, and pickling. Last year, I preserved beans, tomatoes, cucumbers, carrot and sweet corn and used for the rest of the year. You can share the extra vegetables with your friends, or sell in the fresh vegetable market. Every year I donate extra vegetables to a food pantry, and it helped me to take the tax deduction for non-cash distributions. You can save the seeds from the best produces, and use for next year. Gardening is an investment that offers a good return. For example, I have spent two dollar for one packet of green bean seeds. Once I cover the cost of soil, fertilizers, and water, I got a return of around seventy five dollars. I suggest you to start gardening as your hobby that produces positive economic return. Conclusively, vegetable gardening provides relaxation by getting a person outside and exposing to natural air. Planning a garden and caring for the garden help the person to stay healthy and save money. For all these reasons, I encourage you to choose vegetable gardening as your hobby.

The American South :: American History States Papers

The American South So you've moved, or been moved, to the South. Or maybe you're thinking about it. You're wondering: What is this place? What's different about it? Is it different, anymore? Good questions. Old ones, too. People have been asking them for decades. Some of us even make our livings by asking them, but we still don't agree about the answers. Let's look at what might seem to be a simpler question: Where is the South? That's easy enough, isn't it? People more or less agree about which parts of the United States are in the South and which aren't. If I gave you a list of states and asked which are "Southern," all in all, chances are you'd agree with some of my students, whose answers are summarized in Figure 1. I don't share their hesitation about Arkansas, and I think too many were ready to put Missouri in the South, but there's not a lot to argue with here. That tells us something. It tells us that the South is, to begin with, a concept and a shared one. It's an idea that people can talk about, think about, use to orient themselves and each other. People know whether they're in it or not. As a geographer would put it, the South is a "vernacular" region. Stop and think about that. Why should that be? Why can I write "South" with some assurance that you'll know I mean Richmond and don't mean Phoenix? What is it that the South's boundaries enclose? Well, for starters, it's not news that the South has been an economically and demographically distinctive place a poor, rural region with a biracial population, reflecting the historic dominance of the plantation system. One thing the South's boundaries have set off is a set of distinctive problems, growing out of that history. Those problems may be less and less obvious, but most are still with us to some extent, and we can still use them to locate the South. But the South is more than just a collection of unfavorable statistics. It has also been home to several populations, black and white, whose intertwined cultures have set them off from other Americans as well as from each other. Some of us, in fact, have suggested that Southerners ought to be viewed as an American ethnic group, like Italian- or Polish-Americans. If we can use distinctive cultural attributes to find Southerners, then we can say that the South is where they are found.

Do Women Have To Behave Like Men In Order To Succeed Essay

The old Virginia Slims cigarette print advertisement said â€Å"You’ve come a long way baby. †, a reference to the fight of women for rights equivalent to those of men. Indeed women’s suffrage has come a long way from the days of chaining themselves to wagons in the crusade to get women the right to vote. These days, women have become an important and integral part of society. Women are now movers, shakers, and builders who help shape the future not only of nations, but of the world. The question being asked now is â€Å"Have women lost their sense of womanhood in the quest to be treated as an equal of their male counterparts in the workplace? I believe that nothing could be further from the truth. Women do not have to behave like men in order to succeed because it is their womanhood that sets them apart and makes them more effective than men in most instances. I believe that women are successful in whatever they undertake because they have been blessed with the ability to balance hard as nails logic with emotional consideration for the final outcome of various discussions. This is not to say that one sex or the other shall be more successful in a given field based solely upon the gender of a person. A clear example of such a scenario can be seen in the highly successful political careers of former Arkansas governor and president of the country Bill Clinton and his wife, the senator from New York Hillary Rodham Clinton. Their relationship I believe, is a symbiotic one wherein Hillary was allowed to keep her femininity even has she proved to be just as hard working and dedicated to her political career as any man elected to public office. This is a political relationship that borrows strengths and weaknesses from each other. Bill Clinton styled himself after his political idol, the late president John F. Kennedy but, recognized the potential of his wife to be his productive partner in the political arena not only because she was a woman, but because she is a highly intelligent and analytical person who can see things that he may not see. While Bill Clinton was viewed as a politician gifted with skill, intelligence and an uncanny ability to deceive people for his own political benefit, he was also granted the abilities of resiliency and endurance. The very same qualities that people now see Hillary sharing with remarkable similarity with her husband who is also her political mentor. It is this sharing of strengths and weaknesses that makes him a formidable man and she a formidable woman. As a woman, Hillary faced the same problems and wife faces, most notably, the seemingly endless philandering of her husband and the subsequent results of her decision to stay by his side no matter what the cost. She has always shown that she is a true-blue woman in dealing with her private affairs with her husband by keeping her reactions out of the press and dealing with the problem privately whenever possible. This however, did not make her less of an equal in the eyes of her husband who gave her, at the time of his presidency, the voice to be heard in the political decision making process that is usually reserved for the vice president and attorney general. President Clinton had openly said during his presidency that he valued her opinion and she had influence on his administrative policies. Did she have to behave like a man to achieve that status in their relationship? No. Instead, she was the other voice that Clinton may or may not have heard from his political advisers. She was the voice of the women in the White House. Since they were a tag team in the White House during his presidency, it is expected that if Hillary makes it to the White House in 2008, Bill will then take on the role of adviser to the president just as Hillary did for him and in the process, they will continue to be mirror images of each other for the benefit of the country. This time, Bill will be voice of the men that Hillary listens to and considers. In conclusion, I would like to point out that some of the most notable names of political leaders in the 20th century have been women. Margaret Thatcher, Cory Aquino, and Indira Gandhi to name but a few. All are women who were not just political leaders but daughters, wives, and mothers as well. Women in the true sense of the word, but leaders in the world formerly dominated by men as well.
